It had been the third wedding celebrated this month in the church of Agios Georgios in the square of the village of Neraida. One more couple had chosen this church, with its uniquely decorated and hagiographed facade, to join in holy matrimony, as it is said to bring luck and happiness to the lives of the newlyweds.
The sacrament was complete and the guests were slowly making their way out of the church. Some of them noticed a low building just next door and entered it. Little did they realize it, they had found themselves witnessing through dozens of photographs the historical journey of the village. They had found themselves in the photo museum of Neraida and had the opportunity to travel several decades back through the black and white photographic film.

The photographic tour starts from the distant 1922, when the exchange of populations with Turkey brought the first refugees from Sebasteia of Pontus to the region, until the day the waters of Aliakmonas, whose course was blocked by the Polyfytos dam of the Public Power Corporation, finally submerged the old village of Neraida at the bottom of the lake. The old village of Neraida, the old village of Agia Varvara, newspapers with forgotten events, sceneries that we can no longer encounter, moments lost in the oblivion of time, people who are no longer with us, all of them are present there and narrate in their own way the memory and the history of a place whose inhabitants have gone through a lot, but did not put up with it.
